Id like to use both of them
I've seen some phases and diodes around the chipset on the board, but I don't know how I know if they related with the damaged port or not?

Hi, I have a motherboard on which there are two outputs for the front USB (USB1, USB2) and one of them is broken (USB1). According to the multimeter, I found that the voltage and ground pins are OK. Data pin 6 has a significantly lower voltage drop across other components. The other pins have the same loss as the USB 2 connector, however, any USB outputs on the USB1 connector doesnt work, so there will probably be more errors in the USB1 circuit. What does this finding suggest? |

Each motherboard circuit have personal realization by passive and active electronic components. |

I would like to correct myself, the voltage drop on pin 6 is less than on the other pins. Does this mean that there is damaged diode, rezistor or fuse on the bus? |

Maybe. Observe visually, check with a multimeter the tracks of the printed circuit board and the connected components (resistors, capacitors, etc.) from the connector pins to the ic's. But keep in mind that always, especially modern USB devices, you need to connect to the rear connectors for stable operation at high speeds. Patch cables from the front motherboard connectors to the front connectors on the case increase overall length, which negatively affects connection stability and speed. |

You mean test tracks in diode mod, or measuring voltages when is power on? |

Visually and by measurement resistance in Ohm mode for printed tracks from problem pin of USB connector to corresponded pin of ic's. Measure and compare resistance between good/problem pin and ground. Desolder and carefully up good/problem pin and again measure resistance for check ic's or external components is bad. |

Okay, I'll take a look at that. But to be honest its kidna hard find the path, because i cant see it propearly on the printed circuit board, and it is chaining to diferent paths :) I was typing the track few days ago in diode mod. Is it right use diode mod for searching the tracks?? |

Right use Ohm resistance measurement mode for searching the tracks . Diode mod use for check diode and bipolar transistor. |

Hi mia, thx for your assistance, tonight i found one bad electronic part. I guess part marked as RN with value 153 is broken, because it has 4 inputs and 4 outputs. One of the outputs have same rezistance as input value which is different compared to the other RN 153 parts. Ill look deeper next days because it could affected other electronic parts behidn the output i think? What do you think? Do you know what is that RN 153, is it some kind of rezistor or what is that? |

Im not sure if the RN is working as a rezistor, i think its more like a chip, but dont know how it work exactly (where goes the output?) I think one of the 330 rezistors on the board died, seems more likely to me. I think so by my measurements, the value 245 with 330 make sense for me, what do you think? |

Photo this element with mark from pcb ? When measuring resistances in a circuit, the multimeter readings are influenced by all elements connected at a given point, which may be far from the measuring point. |

RN 29 is connected with USB2 pins and its working fine. RN 32 is connected with USB1 pins and is not working. Right side of this RN32 and RN29 is connected to the gnd left side are USB dat + , USB dat - . The second pin from the bottom of the left side of the RN 32 is the affected one with different value. |

Its Jetway: M26GTM-3VP-PB rev-1.0 . I saw, that there should be boardview scheme for simillar boards, but not exactly this model if i remember. Ill try find it again. |

In a similar board M26GT4, connections are made directly to the Nvidia chipset. Check if you have the same, you will have to replace the faulty chipset or accept the loss of one connection |

It is directly connected to the chipset, so that mean the chipset is 100% faulty, or could the malfunction cause the component behind the chipset too? |

Some motherboards have protective components on the data line, such as overcurrent fuses and/or overvoltage suppressors. If they are on your board and if they have fulfilled their purpose, they can affect the measurement results. There are enough working ports on the board, except for one. If there are no other complaints about the board, accept the loss of one port. To test the resistor assemblies RN, their problem leads must be disconnected from the rest of the circuit. This can be done, for example, by cutting the printed track, and then repairing it with a piece of wire by soldering. |

Find documentation such as chipset datasheet, application notes. Compare with your motherboard. |
