Hi everyone!

I have acquired a defective SSD with the following details:

brand/model: Sandisk Extreme 240GB
board no.: P/N 54-50-05056-r100
controller: SandForce SF-2281VB1-SDC

maybe someone can help me identify the U7 IC in the photo below.

I checked everything around it but it seems that it is shorted in one of its ouput.

I will try to replace U7 but i can't find anything about that IC (BQE 1AI A16Z) and i don't have a schematic for this PCB either.

I think it TPS62400DRC, here datasheet in attachment

i'm going to order the chip ASAP and see what happens.. I will update you also once i got the IC and done installing it. :-):

Hi kaliyan! the chips I ordered have arrived and I already installed the replacement BQE IC for U7. Now I have a clean 1.0V and 2.91V on the inductors L4 and L5 but sadly the SSD is still not being detected by BIOS/EFI on laptops or desktop PC. The controller seems to have a power because it heats up.

I'm still blind due to non-availability of schematic and I'm hoping to find some lights by identifying some other IC's on the PCB and continue from there.

I'm suspecting that the controller SandForce SF-2281VB1-SDC does have one of the following issue:
a) is not getting all the voltages it needs or required logic signal to switch it ON
b) needs re-balling
c) it could be toasted or has a corrupted firmware

I will post some photos again later..

left pins of C32, R27, R24, and C41 are GROUND.

as illustrated, pin 4 of this IC (U6) goes to C41 and pin 5 goes to R27 - near the controller on the photo above

I wonder what IC's are U6 "14BBJ" and U1 "W5BE 006"

I have exactly same SSD. It's not working at all.

Have you made any progress? I'm working on it these days. I figured out a few things.

  • TPS62400 dual voltage regulator looks okay.
  • 2x TPS54418 voltage regulators looks okay.
  • Central MCU's Oscillator output pin looks working.
  • I've soldered a resistor and LED to D1 and R1, LED lights up after connect SSD to computer.

Finally, I've removed Sandforce SF-2281VB1-SDC Central MCU. Ordered new one. It's on the way right now. I wonder if that will work after replace the MCU. I'll keep you posted.
