Hi. I have a bunch of HGST Z7K500-500 / HTS725050A7E630 Is it somewhat possible to unlock (date can be ignored/erased) and reuse the drives without special Hardware like PC-3000? I'm more or less searching for a Tool like WDMarvel or so. I also have serial interface programmer I could use, but I would need some real guide. Even if a bunch of disk get's destroyed it doesn't matter, currently they are just laying around. |

Try to find the factory master password and use a program like Victoria to unlock it. if it doesn't work out and the master password has been changed, then it is almost impossible without PC-3000. |

Have the generic "Masterpasswords" ever worked? I tested WDCWDC... on WD and it never worked and also on other drives like this HGST (with the generic "masterpassword", if there is one) I read that ZU and other Tools won't work with HGST with Marvel Controller. I thought maybe I missed something and someone has an idea. I think the Master is changed as they were used in ThinkPads, they are from kind of a whole sale. I have 1-2 HDDs with User-Password but I can't remove the Password without the Master, only change it. PC-3000 vs. like 10 drives aren't worth the effort/money. They are all "just" 500GB. |

really thank you. I have seen vids about this model and pc-3000 but I think the time is not worth the money on this 500gb drives. with a tool like wd marvel I would be fine but with all the tasks for this model with pc-3000 I think it outweights any benefit. |

you can try that https://bios-pw.org/ The hard disk drive must be installed in the laptop on which the password was set. |
