This laptop was brought to me, someone tried to repair it before, there were traces of flux under the combine (cpu+mcp). When power from charger is applied, the always present (дежурка) voltages are there: PL304 - 5v, PL303 - 3.3v. There is 3v on SPI and on power button. When power button is pressed, the power on LED lights, no other voltages on coils appear, no fan spinning. If I press and hold the power buton for 4+ seconds, the LED turns off as it should. The board is DIS (NV920). Coil resistance: PL303 (3.3V) = 380R PL304 (5V) = 510R PL705 (VGA CORE) = 23.7R PL706 (VGA CORE) = 23.6R PL501 (1.35v) = 296R PL302 (BAT) = 735R (battery removed) PL9 (CPU CORE) = 9.8R PL701 (+.05VS) = 1R ?! I removed PL701, the "short" is on the "consumer" side, eg. MCP part of the Combine. Injected voltage, it drops severely, but no heat dissipation, nowhere, not even on the MCP part, and that's what's bugging me. On that very low resistance, there should be something burning hot. Can I be fairly sure that the MCP is fused bad and return the laptop (I don't have the proper equipment to replace 1000+ ball BGA), or search for shorted capacitor under the MCP? Thank you. |
