I got this MSI-163B1 10 days ago for the repair. One dim slot is not working. First i was thinking there was a connection line problem. But i wasn't able to find any lines cut or damaged, lines were all fine. I did use memory tester and it showed that both DIM slots are ok. I did change around 10 memory modules and its the same every time. I really don't know what could be the problem here. Any pointer on this one. THANKS |

I'm not sure about this particular model, but some laptops can use only one (usually lower one) slot if single memory module installed. Also this mobo can only handle up to 2Gb of total memory (according to schematics). Also can be bad CPU socket or CPU itself. |

I tried 2x1 Gb or ram many times, swapping it around, and different rams, same thing. The only on thing that comes to my mind is if there's a problem with CPU socket. |

try to check power lines of ddr, i mean check what it has in slot |
