Hi friends, I have this E6330 that when you connect the original Dell charger the BLUE light on the charger turns off. I replaced the DC jack because it had problems but also the motherboard seems to have issue: 1) there is NO short at 19V, if I inject voltage at PL3 (19V) I see voltages everywhere 3.3V, 5V always are ok. 2) I replaced PU801, PQ2 and input mosfets PQ4, PQ27 (they were ok but just incase of mulfunction) 3) I removed PU1 but still the same, the charger blue light turns off 4) If I use HP charger (no turn off) I can only measure 4V at PQ27.. Photo of blue light: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1sSs2nJ ... sp=sharing Any ideas please? |

The blue light turns off because there is a problem with the motherboard (if the power supply is definitely working properly). Probably there is a short circuit on the board and the power supply goes into protection mode. Check the resistance on all large coils on the board, you need to find a short circuit. |

hi! thank you for your input. When I inject 19V at PL3 (DC input coil) from lab-PSU the motherboard turns on and works OK. |

Chek the dc-jack and all ceramic capacitors at the input for a short circuit. |

Thank you Oleh, when I inject voltage at pin1 of PL3 with bench PSU the motherboard works! ---> No shorts.. I do not know what is going on here... |

It's good, but it will not work properly without "NB_PSID" (Middle pin of power supply connector, The battery will not charge, problems with processor frequencies...). |

yes I know :( any ideas why it works with 19V injection but NOT with charger (charger goes to protection mode)? |

Try removing the choke PL2 from the board (for a test) and turn on the board without it. And if possible, change the dc-jack for a new. |

f-bone, my stupid question: have you tried another PSU? |

yes I tried 2 PSUs (there are no stupid questions from smart people!)... also I removed the PL2 but again goes in protection mode (see video: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0EvFsJs ... Q#Melissia) If I put 19V on wire at PL3 (video) the laptop works (photo: https://share.icloud.com/photos/0SMhUsJ ... g#Melissia) I think the science will give up now :( |

You have a short circuit on the board (in front of the PL3 choke, right after the connector socket), or the DC-JACK(connector with wire) is faulty. Therefore, the power supply goes into protection. |

Check resistance to ground at the pins of the DC connector (motherboard DC connector side - PJPDC1). |
