Hi Russian friends, I got 2 machines with same problem, one is Dell Inspiron 7567, other is Inspiron 7577. Think it's some manufacturing issue because I had more of these with same issue I couldn't fix, so I sold it for parts. Thing is that laptop is detecting charger normally and saying it's charging, but actually it isn't. I got present charging voltages on battery connectors + control voltage from EC. I tried flashing BIOS, changing charging IC and changing EC. Nothing helped. Batteries are all good, so are chargers. Those machines got some smart charging chips, they was shipped with 130W chargers instead of 150W or 180W. They are designed not to charge at all while laptop is under full load, it was obviously problem to ship machines with 180W PSUs, very disappointing from Dell. I guess that's the reason why they are failing. Anyway, if anybody had similar issue and managed to solve it please advise. Thank you in advance Greetings from Croatia!¨:) |

I solved the issue, one MOSFET was shorted, it was B04N03 near the battery connector. I was checking voltages earlier and didn't noticed that, everything looked good. Later I noticed that MOSFET was actually shorted which is really strange as machine was working normally besides not charging battery. Anyways, I hope it would be helpful for somebody else reading this :) |
