Hello,

I am new in GPU repair, I work on DSLR and Lenses. But I have multimeter, SMD rework, BGA rework and some electronics experience. I have two boards and I don't know if they have bad GPU, so they are useless.

1st. Zotac mini 1080TI (picture with voltage and impedance on all coils)

GPU was reballed, GPU heats up but not like normal working cards more slower, it shows in device manager, but gives blue screen when installing drivers. What's strange is that all mosfet drivers gets relatively hot: uP1959 . Here is a picture with Thermal camera with the mosfter drivers:

2nd: Aorus 1080TI (picture with voltage and impedance on all coils)

GPU heats up but very very slow, not showing in device manager. But voltages are ok.

Can someone please help me.

No, Zotac doesn't power the monitor at all. Tested now, even after 120 seconds monitor remains off.



Aorus 12V rail is not 64Ohms (my mistake), it's 2.9K
Tested the signal lines, and pin 3 doesn't seem to be connected. Pin 4 shows 63K . I will try reflow, and if not will take the GPU down, and measure.
Posted after 1 hour 2 minutes 48 seconds:
took aorus chip down, it seems that pin 3 is not connected. I guess that chip is disconnected inside :(

I use a BGA machine. Don't think you can reball manually. As I said we repair cameras and other electronics, and we need BGA machine.



On Zotac, I changed the power controller P9511P, and now the chip heats up a little faster (almost normal). And after 30 seconds the monitor comes on with black screen. Can someone please tell me what this means?

There is another problem. Zotac mini had K6 chip, and I put K1 on it. Are they compatible ?

In MODS 400 I receive segmentation fault. Invalid register 0x1480001

It points to memory side problems. Can be GPU memory controller fault, GPU doesnt fit right after reball, VMEM without a specified range, or memory failure.

Tested card should be first in system with monitor connected to it. There will be a black screen, just select boot device with MATS and wait for a few minutes. Test result will be at report.txt

There is one chance remaining for this GPU-it should work with AMD platform, but at x8 speed.

They have different memory channels disabled, compare the boards. Resolder one memory module to right position. No other actions required.

and no video signal, just that the card powers the monitor after about 30 seconds. Can I modify the bios to pass that memory connection? Or other solution?
Does the card work with all 12 memory chips in place? I added F0, but should I take out the other? I left it in place, so Zotac has 12 memory chips in place...



regarding the other chip, how can it be used on AMD platform? are they compatible ?

report.txt is before installing F0 chip, then report1.txt is after installing F0 chip, and report2.txt is after replacing F1 chip

Can I disable F1 in bios, or exchange with another? I have all 12 memory chips installed, an I can see mats is "viewing" all of them.

No way to do this. Try to resolder a GPU.

I reballed it few days ago. Should I try reflow, or reball again ? maybe this is dumb question...

On zotac, delete from board M11 memory, with 350-K1-A1 dont use m11
M3 and M4 must be placed. Mats says, that its M3 memory fault, try to replace it and run mats again
Dont touch GPU, now we have memory problems, and if replacing M3 dont give result- delete M3 and check data and clock pads from memory place to GPU

thanks for your reply. replaced F1 and the errors were still there. (and everyone here told me that it doesn't matter if all 12 chips are present)

Tried reflow, it remained the same (I wiggled it).

Took the GPU down, and noticed two balls that didn't want to stick to the board (picture attached). Near the F1 with problems.

Reballed and put into Aorus, and it worked :)

Thanks for our help. I will use the card, let's see how long it works.
I tried not to go over 195 degrees when soldering, but the balls used SMD rework station, with air. But I measured temperature and I don't think I got over 200.

Any advices please for a 1070TI chip that has it's marking bent upwards. How can it be repaired?

i tried to reball and reflow it again but no luck, it looks the margins are not soldered ok. Is it a technique for this ?

my friends, I hate to resurrect a zombie, but can anyone explain this further? A nvidia GPU on AMD platform confuses me! Surely he means a NVIDIA card on an AMD motherboard & CPU, correct? And not an Nvidia chip on an AMD graphics card?

Yes. Basically, for Intel platform the first PCIe lane of the GPU must be functional, otherwise the card will not be recognized. This does not hold for AMD. Check also this thread: vlab.su/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=102422
