Good day.. I have received a card. Nvidia Ampere A40 48gb GDDR6 with samsung chips,. It came from a data center/server.. A friend just gave it to me if i can use it for parts or maybe fix. I am testing it in a desktop board z270 with DHC drivers... i am not sure if this card works in desktol pc or not or it can only be used in server. Anyway.. At 1st start i see A40 in device manager with Code 10. "Not too much resources are available to complete this API'' gpuZ says Bios unknown, Memory 0mb, clocks 0. Cannot save bios via gpuZ.. After a restart device manager says 3d controller and i can not install a driver anymore. And also not visible in gpuZ. Modsmats no matter which version i try says NVRM BIOS INVALID OR REJECTED. Any suggestion where to look and if its fixible..? Thanks in Advance . Cheers |

Hi. Starting with basics like voltages, resistances and running NVMT right after MODS can be a good idea. Also, i have Ampere A6000 working flawlessly at Z790, but it not even boot up with LGA775 P45 rig. Z270 is newer of course, but who knows |

Vcore 0.780v, vram 1.35v. 1.8v 3.3 and 5v. Resistance for pex is 7 ohms, 1.8v in kilo ohms. Only memory gives around 19ohms. Which seems to be a little low..? I suspect a bad vram somehwhere but cannot test. Nvmt cannot be run because mods does not work. I have tried Mods for 20xx,30xx and 40xx on it and 30xx, 40xx mods gives error, NVRM BIOS INVALID OR REJECTED..Since mods does not run so nvmt says not initialized.. In windows it gives code10, deive cannot start "Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API" Is there any specific mods version to run on ampere a40..? Or mods for 30, 40 series good for it..? Cheers |

Initially my card came with bad memory and i had the same "NVRM BIOS INVALID OR REJECTED" message from MODS. After memory replacement all tests began to run normally. MODS version 455.219 NVMT has no dependency from MODS. Is your A40 the only NVIDIA card in the system when running NVMT? If not, try to start on integrated or AMD card. Also there is a "NVIDIA Display Mode Selector Tool", app for NVIDIA pro graphics like Quadro and Tesla. Try to use different settings with it, then run tests again. |

Thanks for the info,. I have iGPU and another Nvidia card.. display mode selector not working since it does not recognise the card because it does not load the driver.i think its in displayless mode since i always get display via iGPU even if i select primery display output as PCIE. Display mode selector will work once it detects the card i guess. modsmats needs to work just one time to detect the bad ram. I just do not want to change or reball all 24.. But i think i would start 2 by 2 replacement.. today i replaced A1 A0 front back. Tomorrow will change the rest testing after each channel replacement.. Cheers |
