I have here in my repair center a Motherboard HP DV7 Goya / Balen (Colossus).

The IC RT8823 is very Hot, i changed but it continues the same, i already changed the
Charger IC (BQ738) but it remains the same, it as 19v, 3.3v but no 5v. If i take out the capacitor (PC4118) the IC stops heating, the PC4118 is PIN 17 (5V AUX S5 51123). I think it as to do with the DCBATOUT circuit, but i can´t find the problem. I already try to measure and changed some capacitors from that circuit, but no changes, please some one help me !

Have you changed PC4109?

Make sure that it has good connections, an put it as near as posible from pin 16.

Use an oscilloscope to see if there is some ripple in pin 16.

I already changed the capacitor PC4109 and no effect. The pin 16 is good, it as 19v and dont have variations or ripples.

The pc4118 as 4.97v. I notice that the 3.3v line/rail as variations to, it give me 3.09v not 3.3v, in the battery pins i only have 3.09v in the 2 last pins. I changed BQ738 for a new one, but no effect. I think its the line of the 5V AUX that as some problem, because the pc4118 is connected to pin 17 and pin 17 is the 5v aux.

Very extrange, how many volts are in pin 17 without the capacitor?

Without the capacitor it as 3.80v if capacitor is present 4.97v, if i take it off the RT8823 stops heating.

I notice that if i turn on the current supply the RT8823 stops to burn or heat at about 2 minutes before and the voltage drops to 0v on all pins, it complitely turns off, but i think its a normal procedure of the ic or a kind off protection for not burning.

I think now its my head that is burning ! Its very strange, because most of this problems as to do with a mosfet or an IC in short, the resistances around the RT8823 are all ok, the capacitors are all good, i notice that someone on a post here have a similar problem, but it was solved with the change of a capacitor in short and one of the main mosfets (PU4004) i think!

I have notice that the Power button as no power 3.3v !

If 3D3V_AUX_S5 is ok and KBC_PWRBTN#_C is zero, check R2703.
