Toshiba Satellite A305-S6872
A while ago I've seen on another forum a solution about replacing the NEC Tokin capacitor under the CPU socket to solve that common problem.

Symptom: machine freezes or restarts when plugging the power adapter.
Solution: replacement of the NEC Tokin capacitor under the CPU socket.

The fact is that it's not always possible to replace the capacitor for the same (here in Brazil it is very hard to find, for example).

The original NEC Tokin capacitor on this machine is 900 uF 2.5v, so it's possible to replace it using normal capacitors in paralel.

I recently fixed a Toshiba Satellite A305-S6872 and had the opportunity to take some pictures to show how to place the capacitors. In that case I ended up with an equivalent of a 1320 uF 2.5v capacitor, which is not bad at all.

That solution was also successfully applied to an Acer Aspire 4746z with the same problem.

anche io ho fissato il problema cosi su un toshiba satellite a 300
stessi sintomi appena collegavo il carica batterie e avviavo il sistema prima di avviarsi windows si spegneva la macchina e si riavviava.
sostituito il condensatore NEC Tokin con 4 condensatori da 330 e funziona perfettamente.

NEC Tokin condensatori si trovano montati anche nelle console sony ps3 un po difficili da dissaldare perche il coperchio in plastica si scioglie.

No problem if the capacitor melts the plastic, it's useless anyway.

Once I removed one that was in perfect conditions for reusing it in another motherboard with success. Used an infrared station (ACHI IR6000), preheat temperature was 150ºC, applied resin flux (Amtech 559-asm), top heater at 240ºC, placed aluminum foil tape on top of the capacitor and the plastic did not melt.

But it was too much trouble for nothing, I don't pretend to do it again. It was worth the exercise.
