No boardview for Gigabyte but maybe you will match something from the MSI? If you got such burnout I advice to check all voltage rails. The card can be fatally killed anyway. It was probably by missing PE in your power socket. You don't have good electric circuits in England anyway.

I do this as a hobby and this gpu came from portugal.

What chips did you find burnt? What are the resistances of all voltage rails? Such power failures related to the voltage differences between schassis potentials are very lethal. In most cases several PCI-e lanes are killed along with PEX voltage rail which means the dead GPU.

yes it is the most certain to have killed the gpu.
burnt chips were up9511p, display port, up7549p, bios and 2 capacitors behind the gpu chip.
at the beginning 1.8V had 0.0ohms shorted to GND.
at the moment I have 3.4 ohms of difference to the gnd, not letting it be short anyway.

3.4 ohms means dead GPU. What are other resistances on all voltage rails? What about integrity of PCI-e signals?
It happens when you connect two devices where one is grounded but the other is not or when you mix TN-S and TN-C electrical circuits at home. I have such cards every week.

I have a doubt.
unsolder the 1080ti bga graphics chip and checked all 1.8V.
it seems that only the 1.8v main is shorted in the marked area, on the other side there is 1.8v main with 2.8 K ohm. If using UV ink to block that pinout area will it work?

I don't think it will work. As Albert Einstein joked about the moon When you don't look at it it does not exist It was about a quantum theory but your mental experiment looks familiar haha.

Yes, your analysis of the problem is very good anyway. It shows that a part of the GPU, powered from the 1.8V is dead. It may be something important and I doubt it will work But of course try...

It doesn't hurt to try, really, and then I'll only know if it works.
I've done some weird scenes and it worked. Maybe it will, after trying I'll let you know the result.

Power is split among many sections just for a purpose. Separate voltage rails are for reducing influence on each other. They spread current pulses among different circuits.
There must be a different circuit which is shorted and not relevant to the other 1.8V_MAIN. We don't have datasheet for GPUs so we don't know what there pins are designed for.

I went to look for the TEXAS instruments chest and VDD18 (VR_GEN) which is this area that burned when the GPU owner was playing with VR_mode.

It is an External Power for using the VR glasses when you need more performance than usual.
By research, I can pull out that circuit. The GPU may work fine, but the VR mode will not work properly.

Maybe I did not understand you properly.

Did you measure this short (KZ) on the GPU or on the PCB after, of course, removing the GPU?
