Card : MSI Armor RX 580 - 8GB - V341 - v1.3
Symptom : no display, fan are spinning, blue screen of death under windows (message is "forever loop in thread" or something like that)
under linux, message "Gfx test failed"

History is unknown, board is clean.

I can access and flash the bios with amdvbflash

REG1 is fine with 5.17 Volts output


U2 voltages are 0.98V PIN8 , 12V pin 5
U701 voltage is 1.58V PIN 8

VGPU (sorry don't know the exact term) is 0.95V
each GDDR Memory chip does have 1.58V under it.

U900 (PGOOD) output mesuared on R900 is 2.15V => I think it is normal ?

What can I check now ?

measure resistances on l900, l701, l500 and on pins 3 and 6 u300.

you mean inductors ? do you want resistance when power is off, to check shorted inductors, or when power is on ?

also I need help to locate U300 I couldn't find it :/ I was just abble to measure 1.8V on R65 but couldn't find u300.

on the switched off card, measure the resistance to ground. one wire of the multimeter to "ground", and the other to the measuring point that I indicated.
readings in ohms. values - here.

About U300 in privat message.

Ok :

L900 : 21 Ohms
L701 : 31 ohms
L500 : 31 ohms

U300 (really thanks for your PM it was really obvious but for me I was sure it was BIOS :)

2090 ohms on pin 3
1030 ohms on pin 6

order by resistance. the patient is more likely alive than dead))
now there are two options - memory problems or a dying GPU. learn to test memory on amd cards. if the order is with memory, then change the GPU.

Hello, I'm here again.

So I failed the diagnosys because the card is working on HDMI output (and maybe other output).

we can see a "garbage screen" :



so the result under TServer is obviously "FAIL"




1) where can I see the logs ?

2) what is the difference between binaries 580 , 580a , 580g ....
